What is the Project Domain setting used for?

The Project Domain setting is an optional setting that you would use in the rare case when somebody has copied your landing page, along with your tracking code, or if you’ve accidentally shared your page and it included your tracking code.

Normally, when a visitor lands on the copied page and it fires the copied tracking code, that tracking data would show up in your project even though the copied page is not your landing page.

If you discover that something like this has happened to you, you can set the Project Domain to the domain that your landing page is on. Then, when clicks come in from a different domain, those clicks and corresponding conversions will be ignored.

You will probably never need to use this setting, but if you find that someone has outright stolen your landing page for their own use, or you intentionally shared your page but didn’t realize that you were sharing your tracking code too, then using the Project Domain setting will prevent other people’s traffic from affecting your stats.
