ClickMagick supports the three “industry standard” ways to track conversions – Pixels, Postback URLs and Sub-IDs.
Whether you have your own sales funnel, or you’re an affiliate promoting someone else’s website or offer, you would track your conversions using one of these methods:
Method 1 – Tracking Pixels or Conversion Tracking Code
This is the easiest way to track conversions. And if you control your entire funnel, this is the best method for you.
Some affiliate networks and vendors also allow you to add your own tracking codes or pixels, but if you’re an affiliate you’ll definitely need to check with them first to see if this is supported.
All you have to do is add a piece of code to the page where you want the conversion recorded, such as a “Thank You” page after someone opts in, or a confirmation/receipt page after a purchase is made.
To learn more about setting up tracking pixels or tracking code with Campaigns or Tracking Links, start here:
This is generally recommended for affiliates promoting offers on affiliate networks that don’t support tracking pixels.
Or for “advanced” affiliates who are willing to put in a bit more effort for the most accurate tracking possible.
With Postback URLs, sales tracking is more complicated – but it’s also more accurate and includes upsells, downsells and refunds. So we recommend this method if you’re willing to take the extra steps to set it up.
This is generally the most tedious and complicated solution and it doesn’t work any better than using Postback URLs… so only use this if your network doesn’t support tracking pixels or Postback URLs.
This involves adding unique Sub-IDs to your tracking link and then passing that information to your affiliate network.
You can then see which Sub-IDs result in sales within your affiliate network reports.
