Using ad network tokens allows you to gather useful information so that you can optimize your marketing efforts.
The tokens that you add will be replaced by real values when your ad is actually clicked. For example the Google {keyword} token will be replaced by the actual keyword inside of Google Ads that caused your ad to show up.
Caution: Please note that these ad network tokens are NOT valid Sub-ID or UTM values until someone clicks your ad and your ad network replaces the token with a real value.
This means you can’t use them to test your own links. If you need to test your own links you’ll need to provide valid Sub-ID or UTM values such as “test” etc.
Note: Google does not support the {keyword} token for YouTube ads. To understand why the {keyword} token is meaningless for YouTube ads, read this article:
Caution: These tokens will NOT work properly with Microsoft if you have ‘Auto-tagging’ enabled on your account. You must turn that option off if you want Microsoft to send the token information back to ClickMagick. You can learn how to turn off Microsoft’s auto-tagging feature in this article:
Here are the Facebook Ads tokens you can use as “placeholders” for UTM values when using Campaigns:
