What if parts of my funnel are on different domains?

If different pages of your funnel are spread across multiple sub-domains on the same root domain e.g. and you’ll be happy to know you don’t need to do anything special at all.

All of your sub-domains will belong to the project and everything will be tracked normally.

On the other hand, if you need to do true cross-domain tracking between different root domains e.g. and then you will need to do a bit of extra work to allow things to be tracked properly …

What you need to do is that any time you link from to you’ll need to include the optional cmc_vid parameter in the URL, which is what allows uninterrupted tracking when the user switches from one domain to the other.

To include this optional parameter to the end of your link, you can click on the “Optional CMC Parameters” tab in your Campaigns URL Builder and select the [cmc_vid] token:

Alternatively, you can just manually add this token and parameter to the end of your link. So for example if your user is on and you want to send them to the next page of your funnel which is on, your normal URL would look like this:

If you add the [cmc_vid] token, it should look like this:[cmc_vid]

[cmc_vid] is what’s known as a “token” or placeholder, and when a real user clicks the link it will be converted into a unique ID which will “follow” them as they continue through your funnel on your domain.

Note: You’ll also need to make sure that some version of the Campaigns tracking code is on the page on the new domain that you’re linking to. You’ll almost certainly want to track this progress as an “action” or an “engagement” so you’ll probably already be doing this, but if not then just go ahead and add the Click Tracking Code to the page you’re linking to on
